Offering over 200 years of combined experience in healthcare and human services, financial management, clinical policy development, and program administration.
- Policy Development
The Cansler Collaborative Resources team have worked in the health and human services policy development area for many years, assisting state and county officials in evaluating programs and offering advice on how services might be enhanced, increase effectiveness, and identify efficiencies. The knowledge and understanding of the history and intention of existing policies, compared to the current needs and politics around these issues, provides our clients with a greater ability to plan and anticipate the impact of change.
- Medicaid and Medicare Reform
With states struggling to contain their Medicaid costs and the constantly initiating new efforts related to achieving that goal, the Cansler Collaborative Resources team tracks proposals and changes in Medicaid policies at both the state and federal level to support our clients in planning and adapting to change to ensure future success.
- Healthcare Business Strategies
In this rapidly changing healthcare environment, the Cansler Collaborative Resources team utilizes its knowledge and connections to identify emerging trends in healthcare laws, regulations, funding policies, and best practices to assist our clients to remain on the cutting edge in their competitive environment. These efforts may include assisting in identifying business opportunities that meet the changing needs and directions in healthcare.
- Program Integrity
Meeting the requirements of a solidly managed program and avoiding issues that might result in major repayments to Medicaid or other third party payers is a critical element to a successful operation. With their knowledge and understanding of program integrity and compliance, the Cansler Collaborative Resources team assists its clients in managing program integrity risks. These efforts may include mock reviews to identify potential program integrity issues.
- Behavioral Health Management
The Cansler Collaborative Resources team has extensive expertise in the behavioral health services arena. Our team has provided consultation and technical assistance to large IDD/Behavioral Health organizations including the facilitation of mission/vision development, design of organizational structures, and the development of merger strategies and implementation plans.
- Business Development Strategies
Members of the Cansler Collaborative Resources team have been called upon by organizations to assist in identifying potential service or product opportunities in North Carolina and other states related to healthcare management, technology, and program integrity, and related issues in both state and local governments as well as in the healthcare provider community. This often involves the evaluation of potential services or products and utilizing our experience in improving the potential and developing the marketing strategy. Often, this results in members of the CCR team traveling with the clients’ representatives to meet with governmental officials and others in those states.
- Integration of Care
The Cansler Collaborative Resources team has been engaged to assist in efforts to design and implement a comprehensive approach to care, integrating physical and behavioral elements of healthcare and coordinating this care with human services functions, so as to achieve a focus on the total person rather than segmented care.
- Project Management
The Cansler Collaborative Resources team brings years of experience in project management and the facilitation of group planning and implementation discussions. As strategies are developed, CCR utilizes its management and organizational experience to help our clients develop the necessary focus to achieve successful implementations.
- Documentation Review
Healthcare providers must comply with documentation requirements to protect themselves from potential payback of provider reimbursements that can be devastating from a financial standpoint. In order to properly receive authorizations and/or reimbursement for services, all healthcare providers must have complete and accurate documentation that meets the standards of the payer or be subject to recoupments of fees paid. The Cansler Collaborative Resources team has experience in Medicaid program integrity efforts, accreditation and certification reviews and can provide mock documentation reviews to assess for standards compliance, quality, and continuity of care in provider records. This review includes a review of processes, forms, and quality management systems.
- Training in Behavioral Health Screening and Primary Care Integration
A greater emphasis is being placed on the integration of behavioral healthcare with physical healthcare. Many primary care organizations have begun including behavioral health screenings as a part of their patient assessments. It takes more than a simple screening tool in order to fully integrate behavioral health with primary care. Included in the experience of the Cansler Collaborative Resources team is the ability to provide training that will help organizations expand their strategies to integrate behavioral health screening, brief interventions, and referral into their primary care efforts. The technical assistance also examines workflows for referrals and effective/efficient practices within specialty populations and complex consumers.
- Expert Witness Services
Members of the Cansler Collaborative Resources team have been called upon to serve as expert witnesses in cases involving Medicaid, program integrity, and other issues related to health and human services and state government regulatory functions.
- Strategic Research
The Cansler Collaborative Resources team devotes a significant amount of time and energy to strategic research, identifying issues and opportunities that may benefit our clients across multiple states. CCR constantly monitors government activities, not only in Raleigh, but in Washington and other states.
